Week 10 of art and animation challenged me to rig a 2D asset and then animate it. The 2D asset was provided to us and was a blue ninja shown below.
The first thing I had to do was set up the bones. This did not prove to be a challenge and was easily completed.
I then connected the bones that made the limbs together. The root bone (situated at the pelvis and lower torso) acted as the main connector to the feet of both legs separately. This means I can move the feet and that will move the other pats of the leg accordingly.
I also did the same for the arms, connecting the hands to the torso so that when I move the hands, the rest of the arms move in addition.
The final part of this was animating the sprite. With little experience in animation, this proved to be difficult at first but with some trial and error, I figured out how to move the limbs to make the animations below.
These are the 4 animation I made. While rather basic, my skill show to increase throughout the animations I made. With little movement in the first animation, to the tilting of the head in the final, I have found how to make the products better and more realistic.
